Hi, Anyone please, some advice. I'm so depressed, i cant live like this. I've had it about 3 months. Using nitro, had botox, nothing seems to help . I keep having like 7 or 9 consecutive days , with no pain, i think im healing, then out of nowhere the pain starts again. Neverending cycle. My stool is soft I take mirilax, and psyllium husk every day plus lots of water. Why do I still have pain every bm , and hours after when the stool is soft??

You need to go see a specialist, they can tell you if chronic or not and therefore if need sphincterectomy or not.  I had it done and it was a bad recovery, 4-5 months, but after a year I feel fine now and can even ride a bike for short distances.  But prepare yourself, you may need to take a sabbatical from your job or go long-term sick, but problem is there is no way to tell how hard it will be to recover in advance.  If you live alone with no support you will be in big trouble, you need to plan it carefully, make sure someone is around to help you for a few weeks post-op.  You can search my recovery story on these boards elsewhere.

Thanks for respoding Myles. I've seen two doctors and they both said that it doesn't look bad and that it should heal. So I don't know what to believe anymore! Maybe I'm just a wuss!

I dont think your a wuss....most doctors never been in your situation and cant feel how much pain your going through......i webt to a doctor......waited....they gave me diltazem cream to put on for 4 weeks and said it shoudl work......i did it....the cream failed....i was in miserable pain for 6 houes after every time i had a bm.....and then secided to get the surgery...glad i did.....never had a problem like an anal fissure down in that area since...

Yeah they gave me the same cream. To be honest I'm at a point where I feel l just want to end my life. The reason i'm not going through with it ,is because I love my family too much and I don't want to cause them pain. I have other health issues as well this just the cherry on top!

Well i dont think they can resist giving you the surgery so if i were you, id do the surgery at least to try to solve this problem....i cant imagine having other problems on top of this...

Im really sorry you have to go thriugh all this, but i ,agree.....dont take your life...theres so many othere routes that you can take before coming or deciding to come to that point..

Hi. I remember feeling exactly like u, I really wanted to commit suicide.as far as hope, i believe there is. I can tell the area is still sensitive, it's not 100% healed, but i haven't had pain like i felt months ago . I had pain for 8 hrs after each bm. It took a while. And lots of trial and error to figure out what would work for me. I understand exactly how u feel. I think this is the worst pain in the world. Me I just am not really comfortable with the surgery because like i told miles I'm afraid of the incontinence, that I may be left with .

I had the surgery in 2004 after having excruciating BMS for months. The GI wanted me to keep trying this and that, but I finally told him I wanted surgery. No more creams and techniques, just refer me to a surgeon. The only post-op problem I had was slight anal leakage. Just when you wipe after a bm and get everything sqeaky clean, about an hour later it was a though I had never cleaned. It's not ideal, but I don't regret it. And now, I am back there again. I have a brand new fissure that is killing me and this time I don't have good insurance. I have to go the route of creams, baths, and techniques. I feel you, girl.
