Anal herpes not healing - Help!

I have had HSV1 for one year, transmitted from my husband after oral sex. I am currently having my second outbreak. My first outbreak affected the vaginal area only, however this outbreak is in the anal area. I have had the sores for two weeks, most of which are now healing. I have been taking Aciclovir for the past few days. I have daily warm baths with epsom salt, as this seems to relieve some of the pain. However, there is one sore which has not healed. It began as an open sore on the outer anal sphincter, but with bowel motions this split further inside the anus. It is now a 2cm size open bright red wound, and extremely painful. I have increased my dietary fibre, to ensure soft stools, yet I have a bowel motion every day and it always seems to worsen the sore, which bleeds afterwards. How is this sore going to heal when my daily bowel motions (even with soft stools) reopen or further split the sore every day? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think I am correct in saying that maybe you should communicate with 'Feelbroken' who I do know has a great deal of knowledge on this subject and who is very approachable.

I was just having the same problem and it went on for a month, so I have been taking for a week or more a double daily dose of valtrex, since I couldn't get it to heal on it's own. I finally am about all healed up and then I got a fissure again yesterday

Are you doubling up on your doses? My friend swears by Rutin. She was in a lot of pain and bleeding and she said it cleared it right up and I believe in a matter of days. Go to your nearest drug store and purchase the supplements.

I would also suggest very high doses of vitamin C, D,, B and a live culture probiotic. Coating your anus w Vaseline and a heavy layer prior to movement, should provide some barrier and make for less friction when cleaning, that results in further abrasions to the already thon and fragile area, as herpes when present on the skin, thins the skin even further.

Thank you so much for your advice! My doctor only ever prescribes 200mg Aciclovir 5 times per day for 5 days, so my treatment will only last until tomorrow and then I am back to having to find natural ways to treat the open wound. It's a shame as the rest has almost healed, but this sore is still very much a large open wound and I'm concerned it may reinfect the area.

I will purchase some Rutin and see how that works out! On your advice, I have started high doses of vitamin C, D, B and a probiotic.

Do you believe focusing on drying out the sore could help, say every hour or so drying out the sore with a hairdryer? As I have bowel motions daily, I really only have a 24 hour window between motions to try to heal the sore.

      Thanks again!

Go ahead and mix some baking soda in water to make an extremely thick paste, spread it heavy on there w a qtip, follow up w dry baking soda over it and see if that helps.

I find it very strange that they only give you guys five days worth of meds for a primary ob in Europe. In the states we are given 10 days worth, which the makers of the medicine recommend.

You know, I'm not so sure I believe the theory of drying out a sore makes a difference w herpes, for the simple fact that, if the virus is still presently active, the sore won't go away. That's like thinking neosporin will help clear it up, which it doesn't and ia the reason why I don't really believe in the drying theory so much. Medical professionals will tell you neosporin will not do anything to speed up the healing of herpes sores because it ia viral. IMO, the sores go away when the virus count starts going down, so I'm not so aire on that theory. I feel that area is so thin and in an abrasive area, so it makes it worse. I'm on week two on meds ans mine aren't all the way healed and one popped up yesterday or day before... I think you need to tell your doc you need another five to them days worth of meds.

    Hi Nastor,

I was diagnosed with HSV1 4 days ago, and have now had the sores/blisters for 8 days now.

My outbreak too is around the anus and after reading about your issues with this I am hoping you could tell me how long this took to heal fully, if you wouldn't mind.

I haven't passed a stool in over a week purely down to my bodies fear of the pain when the blister on the sphincter rips and bleeds.

To say this is the greatest pain of my life, would be an understatement.

Thank you in advance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am currently experiencing this issue. I have almost ended up in hospital this due to not being able to poo and it building up inside me to the point that I feel violently I'll. I've been taking Aciclovir for about 5 days and then issue isn't decreasing. Any tips? What worked with you? I'm so desperate?attempting to go to the toilet to poo feels similar to labour (but worse). Please and thank you
