and the migraine continues

After having this migraine since Aug 31 and really no relief and seeing a neurologist they still assume this is all stress and migraine related. I am not getting better now having episodes where I'm aware of my surroundings but it's like I've passed out and cannot respond. The doctors tell me I'm fine I know I'm not I know my body. I'm at a loss. I had an episode in from of a lady who told me to get tested for chiari malformation of the brain. Just need help.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Sorry to hear you having such a rough time, you certainly need something to break it up, but firstly I wondered what meds you are taking for it currently?  All meds can either, do nothing, make you better, or in some cases make you a lot worse, as this has happened to me.

So, for sure nag the neurologist, how he can say stress I really dont know, if you have had an mri scan at least you know all is ok there.

If you are in constant pain, the gold standard to relieve migraine pain, whether cluster or classic migraiine is sumatriptan (imigran) epipen injections, these will take pain away in a few minutes, then your neurologist just needs to work out best preventative meds and there are lots!  You can eeven ask your GP for the injections.

Good luck Elizabeth and keep me updated how you are getting on,  Nagging drs is the key.

    Take care

Hi, Elizabeth. I empathize as I had constant migraine for twelve weeks this year. It is irritating when the drs say "stress and anxiety" but I think that is their pat answer when they don't really know. I don't know how old you are, but migraine takes many forms thruout the seasons of life. Hormones have a lot to do with it, as do diet. I also would recommend an  MRI with contrast to make sure there is nothing serious going on and to rule that out. I also have tried meditation to quiet my over active mind. I have learned that the mind needs a rest just like the body does. I tend to overthink things and that is not healthy for the brain to be running at top speed all the time. Keep asking, keep seeking. Hope you feel better soon.
