Hi,

May I kindly ask your if you were anemic after your surgery? Myvsurgery was 5 hours long and 6 weeks post operation I am anemic. I am also still very careful with what kind of food I am eating. I get very tired. Since my first flair up on April 2 2018 I have lost at least 20 pounds.

Please share your experience.

This disease takes everything your immune system has to fight it. I take a liquid multivitamin power punched with vitamins and nutrients everyday. I'm not allowed to say what it is, but I have to order it online. Congrats on hitting the 6 week mark. I started very slowly and very small portions of foods that I wasn't able to eat before. My main craving was a spinach salad, so I ate about a cup and had no negative reaction. 4 months post op I've eaten small, tender steak, salad about twice a week again no negative reactions. Because of my sepsis inflaming my stomach I do have to be careful of greasy (bacon, sausage, etc) foods, and spicy. It will take me a full year before I'm completely healed. I found that eating cream of wheat in the morning helps greatly, and walking after each meal. Your situation sounds like it was worse or different. I was fortunate they only removed 4", unfortunate I was septic. I highly recommend you talk to your doctor as to what you can start eating as everyone is different.

I also avoid nuts, corn, and anything with seeds (berries, tomatoes, etc.) Don't want to ever go through the diverticulitis pain again.

I have had a resection, Iliostomy for 3 months, and a reversal 6 weeks ago. Have had symptoms of anaemia. My surgeon sent me for blood tests last week. My full blood count came back showing anaemia, these other tests are to show exactly how low my levels are. I see him Thursday. I will let you know . Definately affecting me.

Hi my doctors while still hospitalized said if I didn't start eating a blood transfusion was definitely going to happen So I tried eating more I am almost 4 weeks post second surgery and still weak dizzy when standing The surgeon says this is due to low blood pressure when standing while blood pressure read only 85 over 55 he says it's dehydration causing it I am not well or strong enough to do any house work or even cook he says give it 3 more weeks? Try to eat foods high in iron and vitamin B 12 injections will help You can buy B 12 liquid over the counter and drink it Your physician needs to help you overcome anemia !

Hi again. I said I would let you know my iron levels. My ferritin was extremely low, and that is what helps store iron. I am going to have an iron infusion. Surgeon said this happens with these surgeries, iliostomies( which I had) etc.
