When they were doing the pre-op prep they put an IV in the back of my hand. In the operating room they injected something that felt cold going up my arm. I was not totally out of it, and was somewhat aware of what they were doing, but I felt no pain at all. The only pain I felt in the whole procedure was the next day when I took the patch off and turned the lights on. For that day it seemed like any change in light level triggered some pain in the eye. I wore dark glasses for that day.

More recently I had a bronchoscopy done under similar conditions. With this procedure I was not aware of what they did. The whole procedure lasted about 10 minutes. I had no IV at all. Just numbing drops. Was sufficient. Felt no discomfort at all. Took less than 10 min.
