sometimes if the doctor is aware of severe fear they can prescribe a medication taken the day/nite before at home before arriving for surgery that can help with calming the patient . i have the same fears and can create quite a bit of hyper reactions, or panic attack. then when at hospital prep for surgery can also give a IV to help.
