I had ankle fusion 3 months ago I am due to take my boot off next week but I can hardly put weight on it cannot tell if the fusion has worked or not as I am still in quite a bit of pain down the inside of my right foot where the incision is my foot dose feel quite bruised and across the top of my it feels as though I have tighten my shoe laces two tight or worse has any body had these experiences

you are still in the early days
it will get better but takes time
i am 12 months in to a fusion of ankle its almost there now

Hi gary i just took my boot off around aweek ago Still black and blue around my ankle going hospital 2 times a week for phyo very painfull b ut take lots of painkillers . Putting my foot in a ice bath , well kitchen bowl just for 10 ??? minutes or lest dip in and out as long as you can to get the swelling down really good but don't leave any longer then 10 minutes .. Good luck i have 7 pins plate and 1 sreaw arcross my ancke painfull .. Get baby oil and try massaging into your foot leg . Hope this helps .

Surely you will have had an Xray to confirm that the fusion has worked? Without that it is impossible to say what you should do.
