Anybody have an ankle and subtalar fusion lately? I’m going in for surgery next week and I’m nervous about the pain and how I’ll get around.

I had a block the day of surgery. My foot woke up kinda angry, do what they say and stay in top of the pain meds. If you do not have to go back to work dont. Elevate and ice will be your friend. Do what they say and take your time. My knee scooter was awesome. I hated the crutches. I wish you all the best. Also i set up my kitchen for easy access to the coffee etc. I got on Amazon and ordered a cast sock, i had a fiberglass cast and it wrecks furniture etc. I loved that thing made sleeping better to.

Hi, I had a TT fusion 10years ago, and a subtalar fusion April last year, and revision in January. I was one of the few that didn't fully fuse. It's good you have time to prepare. Have a look on here and other forums about preparing for being non weight bearing. My experience has been Cast for 8 weeks, then boot. NWB for 10 to 12 weeks. In the first few weeks, elevate much as possible. ice behind knee. For me, I found post op pain quite bearable, and soon much less than pain before the surgery. Everyone is different. And arrange for PT once you are able to walk. Good luck.
