Ankle fused

Has anyone had their ankles fused?? That’s the surgery my dr wants to do to my left ankle. I had a bunion surgery on my left foot seven years ago. The dr was suppose to fix my ankle that was starting to hurt. She just stopped doing any foot and ankle surgeries. She was just specializing in bunions now. Well ten days after surgery I had a Thalamus stroke on my left side. My right side became useless and prickly, all of my left side of my body. I had therapy for three months and still work at life to this day. But...since she took the bunion off, my foot began growing inward and pronating inward. So my bones have shifted in my left foot. The dr’s solution is fusing. Has anyone had this done. If so what has happened since the surgery? Any pain? Can you walk normal? Thanks for any feet bac.

I had my ankle fused January 2017 it is a slow recovery non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks, and then some weight bearing. I did lots of physiotherapy both with the physio and in the pool. I walk pretty good now, although I can notice a difference. It is now 16 months and I still feel that I am improving. I had 6 months off work, and still have trouble walking up stairs. I will be 61 in August. Hope this helps. I have some pain usually after doing too much. I still need to sit and rest every so often.

I am 7 weeks post op from ankle fusion, tibial nailing and bone graft. Using aircast boot to walk in and non weight bearing when that's off. In no pain now, some altered sensation due to surgery. Scars healed amazingly. Foot straight. Have toe movement. Ankle fused in neutral position. Go back Monday for X-ray and check up. Will check back here and let you know. I had an ankle replacement 9 years ago and had good use but it eventually it failed. Hence the fusion. I am positve this will be a good fix. If you are like me and your ankle has not been working, is not straight and you have pain then you have nothing to lose. What is your norm like now? Are you recovered from stroke?
