I'm really sorry to hear that you're in pain 11 months after your surgery. Have you talked this over with your surgeon that did the work? I'm guessing that he or she is refusing to give you anything for the pain this late in the game. He really should do an x-ray of your ankle to see if everything is in its proper place. Hopefully you can talk him into doing this. I know a fusion is nothing like a broken ankle but I can tell you that I am recovering from three breaks in my ankle and it's been 14 weeks. I know that my pain stopped within a couple of weeks at most. How long did the surgeon tell you to stay off of your foot? And was it an orthopedic surgeon that did it or some other doctor? I think it's important to have these things done by an orthopedic surgeon. I know I'm not making any suggestions on what you can do I just hope that you figure this out and that you are pain free soon.

Thank you for your concern.  I am thinking that maybe it is my knee which is causing the pain as both knees are to be replaced fairly soon.  The pain goes up from my ankle to my knee. The consultant was a foot & ankle specialist with good recommendations.

You could be right about the pain coming from your knee as when my knee is particularly hot and swollen with fluid it is one solid ache from ankle to hip

And RA is not all about the joints but connective tissues too

I hope you get some answers soon and your pain reduces
