Ankle fusion

Hi, i had my ankle fusion eight weeks ago and am now pain free after eighteen months of agony and no mobility, and i mean no mobility actually having to use a mobility scooter! I had my plaster off on wed and boot fitted the doctor encouraged me to now weight bare, i am doing this with the aid of crutches its a strange feeling as i can feel the metal inside my foot but no pain, i guess this is just something i will have to get used too. I am back walking and that feels great. The doc told me to start walking boot free after 5 weeks i'am hoping to do this before then gradually. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wish i could offer you some! I had my ankle fusion 8 weeks ago also. My doctor told me to start walking with the boot on at 6 weeks. The first few days were brutal but it seems to be getting better. I am using a walker to get around the house but have not figured out how to navigate stairs yet. I am not due to go back to the doctor until later this week and not sure if I'm weight bearing enough or not. It has been extremely frustrating because he didn't give me any direction whatsoever! I have no idea what I should be doing at this point or if I'm doing enough.
