Ankle Fusion on the way
Posted , 3 users are following.
I have seen my consultant surgeon with my wife and we all agreed on ankle fusion. This will happen quite soon. The health care centre I am attending is the Peninsula in Plymouth which is Care UK.
I have started exercising the area and would love to hear any hints or tips.
Not sure about the knee scooter!

However the best thing I bought was the ankle aircast ice boot. Look it up on amazon. I can honestly say it’s a life and sanity saver. When that cast comes off it’s the nicest thing to put the ice boot on!! Meant I could do stuff then when foot swells and maybe a bit sore then I’d put that boot on and 20 mins later was good to go!
Prepare to listen to your body and don’t go doing too much even though you’ll get people saying are you up running a marathon yet???!!! It takes time and best be safe now than regret it later.
I’m in devon too. Fell March 1st in blizzard and had surgery next day. Just starting to walk in trainers yesterday. Can’t say I’m pain free but getting there, one day at a time!
Good luck to you and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sue gives you good advice. Listen to your body. And listen to what the doctors instructions are. Don't be in to much of a rush. Fusions take a while to heal. Get things you need (and before surgery)
I started with out a knee scooter. But after the walker which to me was a Pain in the butt and didn't help me at all.... I got one second hand. People in general will sell them relatively cheap to help others out. That was my case. I got a very nice one for 40 dollars! And let me say it opened up my world ! Not everyone is a fan but it went in and out our rest room fine and I was able to clean up easily. Of course when you are ready.
Best of luck to you,
Rose
