Ankle Injury Recovery Time

How long can one expect to be back walking (without support) and driving after an ankle injury?

If you tore ligaments did you require surgery?

I know it is a difficult question to answer because everyone's injury and health is different. Just looking for ball park time frame.

Injury details:

I had a bad ankle injury whilst playing soccer 3 days ago.

I went to the hospital and got an x-ray. Nothing was broken but the ligaments are badly torn.

I did the normal treatment at home with rest, ice and pain killers.

However, the swelling hasn't went down much and I require a foot boot and crutches.

I have a physiotherapy appointment in a week.

    my husband tore a bunch of ligaments in his ankle about 10 years ago

    he didnt require a boot

    id say it took him about a month before he could walk w/o crutches

    his ankle still bothers him off and on
