Ankle issues - any advice please?

A couple of years ago I wrenched my ankle on a rabbit hole, and its been painful and swollen ever since. My podiatrist suggested a procedure might help, but the problem is the recovery time would be at least six weeks, which wouldn't work for me. I live on the side of a hill, which means steps to the house, the only bathroom is upstairs, and there is just no way I could go six weeks without being able to tend my garden ( my passion), or do housework, or to drive. I know from previous experience that it would send me into a severe depression. I suggested a six day recovery time is the longest that would be acceptable to me, and explained I get severely clinically depressed when I'm laid up for long periods, but she wouldn't listen. Now my GP is starting to press me to be referred for surgery, saying it may get worse otherwise, but I know my mind wont change regarding a six day maximum recovery time, especially having read some people's experiences on this site. How can I persuade the medical professionals that a fast recovery time is essential for my mental and physical well-being? I wouldn't expect to be perfect in this time, but I would need to be able to do those things that are important to me.

well not being a doctor I don't know if there is any that would work in a six day recovery. I know from myself with a broken ankle and from others I've read on here of similar injuries it has been much longer than that. Not sure what they can do any shorter then that other than maybe some physical therapy. I wish you the best. There is some depression that goes with it.
