hello i am a 23 /almost 24 year old female and had surgery on my right ankle on November 25th so obviously im still healing but im scared of a number of things that could go worng. Sometimes my right knee gets hot to touch without pain but scares me bc of blood clots. Everything that could go wrong scares me honestly. Any advice to keep me sane? I am wheelchair bound bc i also fractured my left foot and dont get my boot until december 24th

In one way or another we all felt the same way. My foot looked so bad for the longest time I honestly never thought it would ever look normal. I always thought breaking an ankle was no big deal..put a cast on and you're good go. It's a very humbling experience. But any way, every one has different aches and pain and even if we have the pain in the same place it doesn't really mean it's for the same reason or even normal. When in doubt ask your ortho. GL to you!

Hi sorry to hear what you are going through. I am much older and on my 60s and had similar surgery. I didn't have that particular problem with my knee but there are many strange pains and muscle spasms and stuff that you will have during the healing process. I am pretty much done now but I had the accident on July 3rd and then had surgery on July 23rd and went through being on the and went through being on the wheelchair cuz I was scared of crutches I had cast, walking boot. Ive been walking since October. Still stiffness that they said could last up to a year. Just started working again last week at a front desk in hotel. Standing for 8 hrs. which I was worried that I couldn't do. I would ask your Dr. about your knee but I will tell you that there is a depression that goes along with this. I know blood clots are usually within a few days. Again don't be afraid to call your dr. It is probably something muscular. When you first start walking your knee and hip may hurt because you aren't walking the same. It all takes time but eventually you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and please try to keep your spirits up. Let us know how you are doing. This page was a great help for me during my down time just knowing that others. were going through the same thing.

Its a long road back and you will have a lot of different aches, pains and strange feelings in your ankle and other parts of your body.

    Broke mine 7/5, surgery 7/11

I was walking in a boot mid September w/o crutches Slowly progressed to no boot and sneakers

Not walking perfect at that point but walking

Several years ago I tore meniscus in my knee

My ankle injury same side so my knee did give me some pain

I would ice and elevate the knee 15-20 minutes several times per day and it really helped

That said always check with your doctor

This site has been invaluable helping me with different questions

    Good luck
