I feel your pain. I broke my tibia and fibula plus sprained my foot in March.

I live in the high dessert and it’s freezing here.  My rod, two plates, and 15 screws are so painful.

I try to laugh through it. My hubby encouraged me to walk and keep it warmed up.

No one understands unless they’ve been through it.

I wish you well and hope you get through this painful time.

I dislocated/broke 8or9 months ago in car accident. I have 5 screws going all different ways and they cut my fibula in half at bottom so it could help support my balance. They basically fused my ankle. It hurts so bad. I'm still in air boot thing , my ankle is still trying to roll like it's dislocated, I'm still taking meds for pain, through out the day, once I've taken 3 Advil, a subutex , and xanax, I'm good sort of, but that same dose occurred 3× a day.. I wake in the morning in so much pain. I think I over do it cause the pain meds are blocking my pain during day. I still work out, not squats of course, but push ups , dumbbells , bench press. Let me tell you I think it's different for everyone. I'm 36yrs old, I know a guy in his 60s , he was in Vietnam for God's sake, he had 2 ankle replacements within last 3or4 years, he's doin great.. loves the work they did. Both ankles a year or so apart are plastic joints but fully functional.. we spoke and he said give it time but i don't do well with limits. Lol.. if your still hurting in cold weather that's normal, I've a rod and some screws in my hand and it's my rt hand, I'm rt handed it hurts like hell in the cold, but it's really my stronger hand.. cold and damp weather just bother it. We have injuries. They'll heal alot has to do with activities, diet, over doing it etc.. my doc also prescribe a lidocaine cream to rub in when it's bad and it helps, it numbs the area fairly deep into the ankle but it's just a bandaid on a bullet wound just like me and my meds.. I hope I helped, you're not alone, I'm sure we're all experiencing pain from serious ankle injuries. Don't feel like your by your self. Worse case do like me a cocktail of pills, and I'm good to go. Just within moderation, please..lol.. But seriously moderation..
