Ankle pain 8 months after operation

Hi I had my ankle operation 8 months ago four pins were inserted into my tibia and ankle. I am no longer having physio and was told my physio would now be walking everyday which I have been doing ok with building to longer distances slowly.

In the last few days however my ankle has been having sharp pain and I am having difficulty putting weight on my foot because of the discomfort. Also at night when lying on my right side the side of my ankle is uncomfortable when pressing on my bed. I today started to limp in my home when putting my foot flat on the floor and walking around.

Does anyone know if this is normal at the stage I am at as I have been good came off my painkillers 2 months ago. I wonder if I am overdoing the walking or if my any of my pins have broken.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Really don't want to go backwards with my injury.

Thanks in advance, Julie
