Ankle pain... Was told to live with it.

Two and a half years ago I dislocated my ankle and broke my leg. It required a plate screws and a "tightrope" set up. Two years ago I REBROKE the leg and spread open the tightrope so I required a second surgery to remove the old hardware and put in new. After I got out of the boot , one year after second, told my doctor it was causing a huge amount of pain.. doctor told me to live with it, it was good as it was going to be. Now it turns out, I have n stage post traumatic arthritis in it with NOTHING left of an ankle joint. Now I'm looking at a third surgery to do a fusion. my question is if this third surgery is going to hurt worst, because god knows that the second hurt worse than the first. Also now I am have a huge amount of knee pain, should I get the knee checked out ?

You might also seek a second opinion. When I broke my leg, I was in such a rush to get it fixed that I didn't feel like I had time to talk with different doctors. I just has my hardware removed but I talked with 2 different surgeons first. Two of the doctors were basically the same but the third was completely different and actually took the time to listen to my problems and looked at my xrays. It was amazing. Try a second or third opinion.
