Ankle problems

Posted , 2 users are following.

For a few years now I've had problems with my ankles being fine one day then unable to walk on them the next. ...The pain normally starts around the ankle area then works towards the toes top and bottom and can last from 3 day so to 2 weeks, sometimes I can hobble through this and others I need crutches just to get to the bathroom. It can also stop in one foot and start in the other overnight,

Doctors don't seem to have any ideas as X rays and other tests show all is fine....can anyone else relate to this and possibly offer a name for it and any possible treatments please.

Regards Richard

Have you had your uric acid levels checked?  These are some of the symptom's of Gout as well. I do suffer from Gout every so often but also have ankle pain that comes and goes, can last a day or the longest I've had it, it lasted over a month! It can come on with me if I walk too far or from cycling and yes sometimes for no reason at all. I wear ankle supports most of the time when I know I'm going to be standing, walking for an hour or more. It seems to have helped quite a bit. Soaking my ankles in sea salt has also helped. Also did you have your Vitamin D level checked when you had tests done, a low level can also be the cause of pain...

Thanks for your reply dave, I believe I have had all these tests done and they always return within normal limits,

Maybe the gout is something to explore but as i say ,it sometimes just swaps foot which I find odd.

Spoke to a practitioner nurse yesterday as there were no docs available and she told me that fibro normally burns out after 2 years ,these are the people that are meant to be here to help and advise. ..lol
