Ankle Reconstruction Yesterday

Hi group,

Here is shout out to everyone, that I had my scheduled calcaneal osteotomy with posterior/longus/Brevis tendon repair last night on my left. I fractured both heels 2 years ago on transatlantic cruise ship to Europe. Been wearing boot/s and most of this time either for heel or later for tearing/ruptured tendons. Nothing else to try except surgery. I was discharged about 3 or 4 hours after surgery to hotel next door for overnight observation for bleeding/fever. All is good so far so think I can ride 2 1/2 hour home laying down in back of SUV with leg elevated on wedge. No pain or nausea yet. Had the nerveblock and taking pain meds (oxy) already to be ahead when pain returns. Have wheelchair. I allowed to move from bed to sofa to recliner if I take the wedge to elevate foot for 2 weeks. Also, must give myself belly shots for 20 days to blood clot prevention. Dr placed a huge cast on my left side and put a boot on the right. Tendons on tearing on the right too so he doesn't want it to get worse before I can get surgery on it too. Just wanted to share with you that so far it has not been bad at all. I realize it won't be cakewalk.

Thanks

Ike

Hey there! I'm five days out from PTT transfer, gastroc recession and all-American osteotomy. Oh yeah, you'll feel when the block wears off! I had a few rough days but I kind of feel like today is a turning point; I was finally able to sleep well and that may have made all the difference. Still stuck on the couch with my foot in the air though... Got some couch fever! Hang in there.
