When you start weight bearing, you will still need to use crutches for a few weeks while you re-gain the muscles in your leg.

I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks, and it took another two to get to walking without any aids. My physio considered this very quick. I was in a boot from week 2 so I was able to keep the joint moving and stop it from completely fusing up. I am now at 17 weeks post op and mostly limp free. It's pretty noticable still going down stairs. I don't have full flexion yet but 75% of the way there. Calf is still not back to pre-injury size or strength.
