Ankle surgery and infection

Hello! So im one of the unlucky ones who got an infection after surgery for broken tibia/fibula/syndemosis. I have 11 screws and plate, and had a syndemosis thread. The infection showed itself 4 weeks after the first one, and now they have cleaned up most of it and took out the syndemosis fibre thread, since that is where the infection was mainly. I am on antibiotics for at least 6 weeks, which means 6 more weeks with crutches. They said that after 6 weeks they will probably have to take out all of the metal to be sure there is no complications. I was wondering if anyone knows something about how the scars are going to look after three surgeries on the same area, and if I am going to get my mobility back? I notice the ankle is already more stiff than from the first surgery and im worried sad Thank you

    Hi Nat, 

    Sorry about all your pain and troubles! I don't have the same thing as you but I did have a second surgery on the same as the first. My doc cut me in the same place .. exactly and can't tell except maybe a bit longer that there was a second surgery. 

     You are in for a long road of recovery. Mobility will come back just a bit slow.
