Ankle surgery recovery

Hi all,
would really appreciate some advice on this
6 weeks ago, I had a nasty fall that resulted in an ankle break and dislocation. I had surgery to correct this with screws being added. Today, I had my 6 week check up when I was hoping to be able to start weight bearing. In the days leading up, I tried standing up and walking with crutches as I was anxious about a move from non-weight bearing to full weight bearing. This was actually really successful and I had very little pain or discomfort when doing this. The doctor told me today that one of my fractures has not completely healed and therefore I needed to wait 4 more weeks for a follow up X-ray. She said in this time I could partial weight bear in a boot only, when I told her that I had jot been experiencing any pain partial weight bearing out of the boot she seemed surprised and started to check points around my ankle to see my pain to pressure. At these points I expressed that again it was not painful just a mild discomfort. She said that she would refer me to physio but again advised that I should only partial weight bear in the boot.
I am obviously happy to do this but I did find it odd that she did not even check with me as to how my movement and pain was before telling me the next steps. When speaking to a physio friend of mine she also suggested this was strange as most doctors would encourage you to listen to your body and try encourage movement in the joint to improve healing.
pretty much I am just looking for advice if to anyone else has had anything like this and how they went about recovery afterwards. I am obviously going to follow the advice from what I have been given but think when I have physio they will tell me something different?
