Ankle very stiff and sore after being in boot

I am 4 weeks post op. I've been in the boot for the last 2 weeks and have been doing physio twice a week for the last 2 weeks as well. I have really good range of motion and very little pain. I keep the boot off for most of the day and keep it iced and elevated. I'm still NWB for 2 weeks at least. But I noticed that every time I put the boot on to go out (which isn't often) my ankle is sore and very stiff until I ice it for a while and the goes back to normal. This only happens if I have the boot on for more than 30 minutes. Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

Only 4 weeks. Pistol op and in boot AND physio!!! This sounds great. I'm 16 weeks post op, cane out of boot 5weeks ago today (Friday). I have physio. Once a week with the max have only been for. 20mins,but couldn't manage more because of pain. I didn't wear the boot much, only when I needed to walk, the only time it did give me pain was first thing in the morning after it being off all night, but once on it was fine. Saying this it was still like Christmas when I got g old I could now bin it and start to use crutches. Now down to 1 crutch, can do a little without aids, but more of a limp not walk. I'm still getting a lot of pain and back on the pain killers. 😔. Swelling not too bad but still makes my ankle look abnormal. Very very slowly getting there, but still say I have a long haul in front of me. Good luck with your recovery. Sx

I hated the darn boot. It gave me pain every second it was on. I'm a tough old dirt but that thing bought me down fast tears and tantrums like you wouldn't believe. Told surgeon and he said not to wear it is suppose to support not cause pain. If you continue to wear it remember the Even Up Shoe.  Take care.

I only wear it if I'm up and around. If I mostly have my ankle elevated through the day but put it in the boot when I go out. Man does my ankle get achy and sore!!! And then super stiff. I have to ice it for a while before it will move again. I hate the boot.
