Ankle very stiff & stuck after cast removal ( 6 weeks since ORIF )

Hello. i am a 30 year old female from England and i broke my fibula and dislocated my ankle while playing touch rugby where my foot was caught in a divot in the pitch and i just feel down.

I had surgery 6.5 weeks ago ( plate on my fibula and screws in my ankle )

At my appointment on Thursday the consultant was happy to remove my cast but i am not allowed to weight bare for another 2 weeks ( so i have to wait a total of 8 weeks ) but they have said i need to try and move my ankle up forwards and backwards... however.. my ankle is stuck in position and is so, so stiff i can hardly move it. If i really try to push it down its just so painful!

Has any one else had this and if so do you have any advice?

Also i have not been given a boot i only have bandages on to cover my insiscion as they have still not fully healed.

    My doctor has said "let pain be your guide". It will take a while but I wouldn't recommend moving into a severe pain position. Take your time and move the foot with your hands.
