Anklyosing Spondylitis - ELIMINATE EGGS

Hi all,

I thought I would post to let you know that I was diagnosed in roughly 2012/2013 with AS and seem to have managed to reduce/eliminate all symptoms of this disease.  My story is a similar one in that it started with aches and pains in the back, and constant knots.  The knots were so debilitating that they kept spreading to my hips, and higher up into my neck.  I went to see numerous professionals and a specialist here in Melbourne Australia.  Unfortunately they were all keen on diagnosing the problem so they could set me up with prescription drugs.

I spent quite a lot of time researching and reading, and eventually my cure came in the form of a fast.  I spent around 10 days on juice - vegetable/fruits only with no food, and my symptoms immediately went away.  After careful analysis I realised when I introduced food back into my diet that EGGS WERE THE CAUSE OF MY ANKLYOSING SPONDYLITIS.  I never at them as a child, and my diet had changed as I got older, to the point that I would eat at least an egg a day.  They were causing an immune response that was wreaking havoc on my body.  If you or someone you love has AS, tell them to stop eating eggs, and judge for themselves.  It may or may not help, but geez I wish someone told me this a long time ago.   Since my symptoms all went away, I've done testing on more than one occasion to check the ESR, CRP etc levels to check how much inflammation is in my blood, and they all went plummeting down post eggs.

If you're reading this, good luck, and hope it helps you as it did me...

Cheers - Julian in Melbourne Australia.

Great news for you Julian.  Were you diagnosed with the gene?  I find good information and discussion about no/low starch in books and on the web.

      Hi Dana,

Yes I was diagnosed with the HLAB27 gene which was what led me to the top expert in Melbourne. I've read the same about low/no starch diets too. Aside from some of the obvious such as too much junk food or whatever there was not one other thing I could find which triggered the massive autoimmune response beside the eggs. Are you in the same boat where you have AS? I've had one example since then of a sporting injury which took longer for the inflammation to go down (a sprained/rolled ankle) but no other episodes since.
