Anniversary and some new problems lurking

Almost one year and am needing Osteo at frequent intervals . Sacro iliac joint painful and pelvis misaligned per Osteo who sees this all the time in THR patients.  These professionals pick up on all the fallout post surgery and keep Schtumm most of the time.  It ain't over yet....

No it ain't over, I'm 4 yrs post very soon.

But have to say I'm taking a new supplement to help strengthen ligaments/tendons and I believe it's helping.... My knee and foot/ankles are worse but I "think" I'm getting some healing going on.

Now I'm in the U.S. so don't know if this product I use is avail in the UK....

So if anyone wants to know about it, ask and I'll send a PM....I am understanding comment on a specific product is not permitted here....I'm learning the rules I think. J

Hi, I am 18 months post THR and still not right. I am finally going for an MRI next week to see what it shows, constant pain gets you down doesn't it. I wonder what we would do if we didn't have this forum to keep in touch and know we're not alone in this.

I haven' yet tried an osteo but have had physio which didn't help at all. No, as you say, It ain't over yet,

I believe the osteos, chiros etc pick up a lot of fallout. Even the radiologists have intimated that to me, sometimes even daring to say the surgeons are arrogant but still manage to walk away from what we are left with, so many of em saying, you need to see someone else about yr back!!!  Back problems only starting after THR.... and oh boy mine are starting.  Osteo said my pelvis was thrust forward and it sticks out at the side where prosthesis oversized. God only knows what that does to the fine engineering that is our skeleton....!,,  Smiling all the same, otherwise wd be a primal scream...!

I have not "walked" this week as per request of physio, let my muscles rest!  So why does my right leg and hip last night and today really ache.  I see her tomorrow, so shall see.  I have an osteo for my horse.... maybe I shld see her later on!  She does wonders for Maggie.

Yeah we gotta take time to see how things resolve. The whole skeleton has to re-align once healing swelling, inflammation calms down ... Naturally the pelvis won't be as it was with adjustments settling down.

So sorry to hear how bad things are for you. Thankfully u got physio. My date SAME as yours. I had about 8 gd weeks but lower back now so bad can't walk for longer than 20 mns and feel thrust forward awkwardly with peculiar gait. One gd thing is rotation of hip now 100%  ... Was told 2 yrs before you start not noticing anything... But wish I'd been told beforenot after!

    Hi Gentilleschi

I'm sorry you are having problems...its horrible isnt it.

Mine is slightly different....2nd THR and four weeks post op I was doing an NHS exercise......and there was an awful crack. Ambulance came, I went into hospital, had an X Ray and was told you've fractured your greater trochanter boneeek Nothing we can do about it, it will heal by itself but will take a long time......8 and a half months later I'm still in pain, on 2 crutches and having problems sleeping.

Turns out I have osteoarthritis as well as everthing else but they knew I had ostepinia befor the op {pre cursor to osteoporosis} you would think I would be told not to docertain exercises....but no....not a bit of it.

I spoke briefly to my own consultant last week who says it wont heal, I might progress to one crutch but thats it....I have a proper consultation with him in about 10 days so armed with my list I'll ask loads of questions and get a def. prognosis. He's the first one to give me a straight answer.....everyone else has waffled....it will heal.....eventually!!!!!

    Love

Omg it doesn't get much worse than that. How could they NOT tell you that you were high risk fracture case. It is very dispiriting. Can you get an alternative therapy and dietary advice... There must be some way you can help the healing and strengthening. But if you can't exercise nor weight bear , what a slow process it'll be.    In your position I wd get an opinion from an Osteo, nutritionist, and even a Chinese dr. There's gotta be more help. 4 weeks post and doing what they told you..   I would have to confront the individuals who between them put you on that regime... Miserable for you. But it WILL get better. Your body will find a way. LOok after yourself

      Hi

I havent tried any alternative/dietary etc as yet.

It was only last week that I was told by the consultant that i always see that i wouldnt get better.......I asked and he answered....he knows i like straight answers.

Up until then I was expecting {like different consultants in the hospital, physios etc said} it to get better.  It was very frustrating that it wasnt getting better. I see my own consultant who is lovely......in aboyt 10 days and will have a really good chat with him and see what he says then I will think of other things.

It depends what you mean by weight bear......I can weight bear...eg in the house I dont use a crutch but I waddle like a duck and am not very steady. My consultant says "safety first" because of the osteoporosis....use whatever I need.

After I see him and hear what he haas to say.....I'll come back to you or anyone else that has any advice....I'll bear yours in mind.

My only problem is I have epilepsy {from 18 months old....not 68wink} But since my last pregnancy 33 years ago its been well controlled...I drive lead a normal life {whatever that is cheesygrin} and I wont take any meds that might clash with those meds.....I refuse to rock boat after 33 years of being stable. Apart from that......no problem trying things

Have you heard of scutellaria for epilepsy?  It's a natural plant herbal in tincture form. (Skullcap)

      Morning

I have heard of skyllcap but thats all......but sdince my epilepsy is so stable I would need a very good reason to mess about with those particular drugs. If i was having seizures   OK anything is worth a try but I'm not.

Think about this.....I live outside a small village......cant walk very well now so reply on my car......I would be lost witout it......So I would like to stay independent so why mess with my tablets?

      Love
