Hey Carol you have been diagnosed about the same time I have two years ago. I didn't do any Research into it really all I knew I was mad as hell they told me I had to wear to scream every night and got a call just told me I had to wear it every night with estrace cream. I didn't. I didn't use hardly any of that stuff and now I'm starting to itch and stuff like that I'm probably going to want him using Neosporin with pain relief I'm so freaked out and now about these people talking about losing their labia and little man in the boat and stuff. Absolutely not crazy condition disease or whatever you call it p*sses me off. I haven't had sex in 3 years because my boyfriend doesn't have any equipment butt I was thinking I've got equipment hint hint they might be electric but I've got some equipment LOL I really don't know what to say except for I wish I could help you just want to let you know I was diagnosed at same time and now today and yesterday I've been applying this stuff clobetasol for the last 2 days I've been itching. Let me know somebody interested tells you something else about this junk we have never ask for

Sugar is a trigger for a lot of women. For me it particularly fructose and High fructose corn syrup

Lotd if that's the case I'm in trouble I really never had any symptoms except for dryness and I thought that was because of no estrogen

And of course I haven't had sex for 3 years because it's painful no matter how little of anything that goes in there it hurts

It may be lack of estrogen too. It's all very confusing I think. I've only just accepted that sugar is a problem for me as I had the worst flare ever after a weeks holiday drinking wine.

The only thing you could do is cut it out and see if it helps good luck

Sorry about your breakout. At my last outbreak, I used a mineral mask (people usually use it on their faces, but I mixed it up and put it "down there".). It gave me relief for awhile and calmed the storm of itching -- I literally went "AHHHHHHHHHH"

Some report that a hydrogen peroxide/saline solution (after bathroom stops) helped the area heal. Same true for baking soda sprays and baking soda in their baths.

I changed my diet to keep LS from coming back: no sugar, no wheat (can be worse than sugar), no grains (rice, corn, etc).

I seem to be in an extended remission and am not using steroids at all.

Keep trying things until you find something that works for you.

The mineral mask was called terra silk -- it's really just mineral enriched, refined dirt that you mix with water and apply to the face and leave on for a few minutes. It seemed to greatly calm the outbreak, and I think it sped up the healing.

Clarification: usually for face, but can be used anywhere on the body for skin healing -- so I used it on my LS outbreak

Some people on here have said too much sugar in your diet can trigger a flare up but I can not honestly say as I try not too eat too much sugar anyway. You could try a low sugar diet for a few weeks to try it ! Sorry i can't be of more help.

I didn't even know I'm having a flare up I just started getting a little bit couple days ago but I've been in the garden for several days and even though I shouldn't be out in the garden it's hard for me to take a bath because I'm 80 pounds overweight I can rinse off all that great stuff but reaching that area is almost impossible I'm going to have to get a long spoon or something like plastic I want to start worrying that clobetasol I swear I am not going to have this crap put me down I'm going to read on everything I can I've already posted to Facebook about it and I said men can get it too unbelievable unfair bs disease

Hi Carol,  The 3 main food culprits in auto-immune diseases are dairy, wheat, and sugar.  Try avoiding them all for a while and if you start to feel better, you can re-introduce things one at a time and see if it causes a problem.

    Carol

I'm not an expert but I can tell you from my own perspective that sugar is very very bad for my LP. It took me a while for it really to sink in because I was always a sweet tooth person, and even now after a year I think ' oh, just one of those little pieces of (insert favourite sweet treat) won't hurt! And if it WAS just one it would probably be ok BUT two days down the line no problems down below so I'll have maybe two pieces shortbread. You think ohhh, I can do this!

This happened to me last week, thought I could get away with it and got carried away. Not only the shortbread but quite a few pieces of fruit, some honey, etc.

Two days ago thrush everywhere, didn't know what it was, off to dermo in despair $130 later, now on Fluconazole which is so bad for gut flora but necessary, days of nasty burning pain blah blah.

No refined sugars ever. Very little fructose ever.

It sucks but it is what it is and as for being on Prednisne, well, sorry and been there for four months myself just recently, but being hungry is a side effect for some. Eat raw vegies or protein instead. I used to keep chicken drumsticks cooked in fridge and those middle of night fits of hunger were happy with that little treat

A very positive side effect for me was weight loss with just no sugars! Lost 17 kgs (38 lbs or so) over the lazy year and am now well within normal range for my height. Of course not everyone is overweight but for me it made things better in many ways as pertaining to treatment and keeping dry etc.

You have to take every little tiny silver lining with this damn disease so I'll take that!

I also use an applicator of oestrogen cream once a week to combat dryness and that is very helpful.

    No sugar.

Handle stress as well as you can, that a hard one but its true!

I also don't touch dairy or wheat but that's mainly because of IBS, maybe it helps my LP as well?

    No sugar

    And lastly, no sugar.

    Good luck!
