annoying catarrh

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have had ongoing rhinitis and catarrh affecting my throat for a few years which is driving me crazy.

I am beginning to think that the candisartan I am taking for hypertension is the cause.

I am wondering if anyone else has similar symptoms ?

    Hi Nicola

I was on candisarton for almost a year and amlodipine for a few years.  Amlodipine gave me bleeding gums so the GP withdrew that and doubled the dose of candisarton.  Like you I was suffering with rhinitus, sinus headaches/catarrh and GP suspected that this could be giving me these symtoms so changed yet again.  Now am on Indapamide 2.5mg and Losartan 50mg.

Some of the symptoms have lessened but can only tell how it goes in a couple of months.

I have joined a BP forum on facebook and share experiences there.  What I have seen is that due to our individual metabolism, what may affect one person doesnt necessary someone else the same way.

MY experience when taking these pills are identical to what you have experienced.

When I visited the Dentist he was all for sending me to a Specialist Dentist because he saw my gums bleeding until I said I was on that medication.

I guess there must be some advantage in recommending people to use these pill combinations as otherwuse the Doctor's would not be recommending them as they do.

I have been taaking these pills for more than 10 years . The Rhinitis and Catarrah only started a month ago. On top of that I also have sleep disturbances.

Will be contacting the doctor now to see if there is a remedy,.
