Everyday I wake up worse than when I went to sleep. Last night was dreaming about my partner who I'm trying to get back and love so much to wake up and find where no longer together. On day four of sertraline hope it kicks in soon. Anyone else feel like this

    Hi iquinnyi,

It's funny that you posted this because I too have had dreams similar to this lately. I have dreams where I can sense that my girlfriend has left me for someone else. I have that lonely hurt feeling in my dreams. Only then I wake up and she is still there. Our relationship is going just fine and there's no reason to believe those dreams are reality. I've come to the conclusion that those dreams are the result of my anxiety. That I must be going to sleep at a high stress level even if it's subconscious. The funny thing is my anxiety takes all shapes and forms and often it takes the form of me being severely afraid that my beautiful girlfriend will find someone new and leave me. Obviously this is an irrational thought with no concrete evidence of reality. Sounds like the same thing going on with you. Try to relax your mind before sleep. Meditate, try some calming herbal tea..anything to relax your thoughts. I bet your sleep quality will improve and your dreams will follow

sounds like you have seperation anxiety.  Just remember would it dangerous if your girlfriend did leave you? Would it kill you? No.  It would certainly be uncomfortable as our anxieties tend to be.  But 10 out of 10 times the anxieties we have and think of never truely materialize.

Don't need to scare you, but SSRIs antidepressants can take up to 2 weeks to start working.  Find ways to make yourself feel good, get involved in hobbies.  Do them anyways, because your depressive state, will tell "whats the use?" Just do and make the best of it.  Get involved with helping family with things, help grandma and grandpa.  Volunteer your time to others,  it makes you feel good about helping others.  Wish you peace of mind!
