Another day of feeling ill

Posted , 7 users are following.

So I am on my third day of my period and feeling lousy . Stomach cramps , back ache and another migraine . I only had one Monday and spent most of the bank holiday in bed . I missed all the glorious weather . Now I feel rough again . Is this normal ? I know these migraines are all hormone related , but still I worry . My husband just asked me if I was feeling ok . He must be fed up hearing all this or thinking a hypochondriac . We are supposed to be out tonight round his families and he said he can see a cancellation from me coming on . I said no I’d go but I really don’t feel like . How can I cancel another engagement ? Other women cope .

I’ve had to cancel on lots of things. And if I didn’t, I’d look around thinking ‘how are all these people just feeling normal and I’m not’?. It’s so hard. I’ve tried making it up to people when I’m well enough, but some just don’t understand. I hope your husband will see that you aren’t a hypo and you don’t want to feel like this if you had a choice. My husband is ok, he gets it, thank goodness. But he has made comments about wanting his old wife back. Sad

You are so right Susanne! I had the same experience and its always like (mostly from my female friends) "how come no one else seems to have the same problems", "why do you always complain about your hormones", yada yada yada....

I feel so strongly that we women have been suffering in silence for too long, so much so that, now when you tell honestly your inability to be social always, its seen with suspicion and seen as if you are just being a big cry baby. Heavens knows how tough it is to go on the day to day life without all this additional bull....

Oh Jane, I feel your pain. Second day of period for me and I feel so tired and low that I  can barely keep my eyes open. I feel stressed and anxious, and obsess about every little thing, especially my health. I think that I must have some fatal illness to be feeling like this. Migraines are almost a relief because at least I can take a something for them. I too, think that my husband must either think I’m a hypochondriac or a moaning Minnie. Sadly, I have no advice, just loads of empathy. My periods are still totally regular, and at 49, I am scared that they will go on for years. I am beginning to loathe the smug women who say that they are breezing through the peri-menopause. Just remember the days when you do feel okay; and remember your body is going through the most stressful thing since (pregnancy if you did it) and adolescence. Thinking of you x

Hi I'm afraid this is Meno and my life changed massively with all the symptoms feeling ill for 2 years all you can do is go with it not pushing too much . All true friends will understand if they don't they aren't worth bothering with.

These forums help. Good luck .Debi x

I’m with you.  This period has been worse than ever - very heavy, lots of pain and completely drained.

I guess what’s so shocking is that everything is unpredictable - it’s hard to plan anything as you really don’t know how you feel until the day comes.  At least with periods - pre-peri - you knew that you’d have PMT for maybe a day and cramps for maybe a day and that’s the worst of it.  I start feeling unwell about 10 days before my period.  On top of that I get out of bed in the mornings so stiff I can barely move.

One revelation I can share with you all is I seem to have found a cure for bowel cramping - red wine works every time - only a small glass (or a large one if you’re really fed up!)
