another issue of being a teacher with a THR

we are not supposed to twist round are we? try walking through a school where 1200 people either know your name, call all female adults `miss` or have random screaming matches - it is almost impossible not to just twist from the waist to see if it is you they are calling while you carry on walking (or hobbling) through the building!!

    Call all females 'Miss'?  'Miss' indicates you're single; never been married.  'Mrs.' indicates you're married.  Therefore, in the US, it's politically correct to call females 'Ms'.  No one gets offended because they're called the wrong title.  I'm divorced.  I don't like it when someone calls me 'Mrs ' ... because I'm not one!  And at my age, being called 'Miss', that person is just plain inconciderate.

      in the UK it tends to be Miss and Sir no offence taken by anyone  - unless they call me `miss man` inwhich case i say I an not a miss and definatly not a man - believe me our kids are confused enough without insisting they are PC!  For a real laugh just try asking them how old they think a teacher is, they are usually about 15 years out one way or the other, and yes I work in a high school!

    Hi I don't envy you in teaching! It can't be easy! How is your hip? I am starting hydrotherapy! Tomorrow I will be having reflexology! Which I love. Being my Hubby's carer isn't easy at times! Well done you! What do you teach? Regards Amanda

      hi

      I teach DT (mainly textiles and fashion) and citizenship (politics at the moment for obvious reasons!)

      my hip is doing very well ta - the rest of me is suffering!! i use a crutch when going round the building at break and lunch because everyone is moving at the same time and it is scarey. the kids have been grat and very very helpful but i really notice it in my thigh muscles when i`ve had a stressfull lesson it is quite noticable the difference it makes. tomorrow is a parents evening and i know i will be at school until 8.30 I will have to keep standing up to talk to parents because if i sit on a hard chair from 5 - 8.30 I wont be able to move!

      I envy you your reflexology and hydro - i am hoping to go back to my lovely sister-in-law for accupuncture soon to get re energised .

      I am sure your hubby really appreciates you and I do admire what you do

      take care

      val x
