Another question :-/ . Swollen throat feeling

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi all!

I wrote a post a few weeks ago about recurring symptoms. I am out of the acute phase, but every few days I just don't feel well again. Chills, nausea, but not as bad as the first time!

I don't necessarily have a sore throat, but I feel like my throat is slightly swollen. Has this happened to anyone? I can feel it when I swallow. Although I don't know if I'm just so fixated and obsessed w how I feel!

    Hi,

Sorry to hear of the recurring symptoms ... but that does seem to be one of the trademarks of the illness. Once out of the initial phase we tend to think we are over it but this seems to have a habit of lingering. Some glands tend to stay swollen beyond the initial phase (for me and several others reporting here it seems to be the one under the left side of the jaw).

My approach is to switch off from physical exercise or anything that can drain the lymphatic system (including hot baths) as that seems to just prolong my symptoms. Removing stress also seems to have a benefit. For instance I am now just over three months into another recurrence of the illness and in the past week, since being on vacation and not at work, I have seem that last gland finally start to shrink.

If there’s one bit of advice I share with people is to look at this as months instead of days or weeks to get better and just be kind to yourself, take things easy and keep to whatever immunity boosters you prefer. Things do come right, just not as quick as we’d all hope! You’ll recover in time ... but recurrent symptoms can happen so treat them with respect and take life as easy as you can until they disappear.

    Good luck!

    Hi r05,

It's nice to hear from you, yes I do definitely think the symptoms you describe are normal. Even after the acute phase I just didn't feel well for a good period of time, as if I was 'stunted' and I couldn't really put my finger on what was going on, just know the low grade fever was always there and my body resilience felt like it had gone.

It's understandable to feel so worried at the moment r05, just want to reassure you that this will all settle down and pass. Jeremy gives some great advice, it's so hard to look at it in the longer term, but you definitely will get better and even if it doesn't come right away it definitely will happen - so hang in there, there is definitely still hope there and just hoping and believing next year will be a much better year - the year of recovery!

Take care and keep in touch

    Craig
