    Two things...

    1. I've been on here for four years and the vast majority of people who get #2 done a while after #1 report that their experiences, for better or worse, were very different. Not many say that the two knees were similar. Take that as an observation. Don't EXPECT #2 to be better, worse or the same. Each one can be very different.

    2. Google "COOLIEF". This is an FDA-approved, 15-minute procedure done under sedation to ablate (deaden) the nerves around a bad joint...including the knee. It's technically called Cooled Radiofrequency Ablation. I've talked to my local certified doc who reports that some of his knee patients get relief for up to 2 years...then they do it again. The website has a doc locator on it. I know I'll need #2 done somewhere down the road. Before I do, I'm gonna try this out. Just a thought...

I just had my second one done january 21st. It was and is different from the first one. I have been very fortunate because this one has been a lot easier. The first one took nearly 5 months to rehab and I'm almost done with this one after 6 weeks. I also think that it feels a little easier just because you've already been through it and know what to expect.

I also know that no two people are alike. I'd like to tell you that it's a snap the second time around but but I think we both know that there is no guarantee of that. The best I can tell you is if your knee is to the point that you dont have a decent quality of life anymore then it's probably worth the gamble to get it done . Hope all goes well no matter what you decide! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I could literally repeat all that Bobbymac has said. I had the left done on 21st January last year, was supposed to have the right done in May, but it was a s,ow rehab and I put it off. By September my right knee was so stiff I knew I'd have to go,anead and arranged to have it done on 20 January this year.

Like Bobbymac it's been a totally different and much easier recovery. I was doing things in 3 weeks that it took over 2 months to be able to attempt last year and already my right knee feels like a normal knee whereas the first can still feel a bit alien on occasion and still gives pain coming downstairs or getting up from sitting. The surgeon said it's usually down to,the amount if work they have to do depending on the deterioration of the knee which does fit with how my knees were so for that reason I would say go for it sooner rather than later. No guarantees I know, but I'm really pleased I went ahead before the right git as bad as the left. Good luck!
