Another vaccination question

Greetings from the Texas Gulf Coast!

Recently the group responded to a Flu vaccination question.

What about the shingles vaccination I've had PMR since April and I am on 14 mg pred.

Thanks

I've decided not to have it.  It seems we only get Zoztavax in the UK, and according to the nurse at our local surgery it is only 50% effective, doesn't necessarily stop you getting shingles, but makes it less painful if you do.  She said if you are doubtful, don't have it....so I won't. Also she had never heard of a test for immunity to chicken pox.  Eileen says one of the side effects of Zostaavax is PMR....we could be going round in circles here!

Zostavax is a live vaccine so probably not a good idea to have it if you have PMR.

I assume she's never worked with pregnant women who have been exposed to CP!
