I had this done May 2015, now I know why my knee and ankle were swollen for weeks, lots of twisting.

I'm doing fine now, need to have the right done next. Thanks!

Yep, me too Loral.  But I had the RIGHT one done September 21st of last year, and I KNOW I will need the LEFT one done soon.  Am kind of shooting for spring of next year, because I'd like to get into better physical shape to undergo another surgery.

Had the direct anterior LTHR less than a year ago in November. Completely healed and feels great. I am now going in for my RTHR on 10/2. Looking forward to same success with the same surgeon here in Columbus, OH. But one has to know the pros and cons. There are things that can go wrong. But, vs. the other surgery approaches (lateral or posterior) for THR, there are much less potential complications. No muscles are cut with this procedure which is a biggie in terms of recuperation and potential issues. I fully endorse this procedure.

One point is that it is more difficult (vs. lateral or posterior) and you need a surgeon who specializes in this hip replacement surgery technique (experience, experience, experience) . When I asked my surgeon how much experience he had with this type of operation, he said "I have done this surgery over a thousand times over 8 years and is the only hip replacement surgery technique I do. That was a very good answer.
