Anterior cystocele repair 3weeks ago

I'm 3 weeks post anterior cystocele repair.

I'm so bothered that the prolapse has returned. Things feel different down there and I daren't look myself.

Is swelling normal down there? I don't know whether it is the stitches and the healing process that I can feel or my worst fear.

it would be good to hear from anyone out there who has had this procedure done who might be able to let me know what I should expect

thank you

    Hi Sally

I am a little bit further along than you. I am 4 weeks yesterday cystocele and rectocele repair and a hysterectomy. I too have that same feeling. We have to be positive and if you and I have that feeling and I have read where others definately have it-I am really thinking it is the healing process. I go in 2 weeks for my follow up and will know more than but I have to think positive and I am VERY hopeful it is just how things are for now and will improve. Continued success to you in your healing!

I had the same as you, four weeks today, in addition to the vaginal hysterectomy I had the sacrospinous fixation. I'm sure the fixation and hysterectomy are fine, it's the repairs I'm worried about. I've still got lots of stitches, my bladder is still tricky to fully empty, I'm very concerned about leaks!

I don't have a follow up until August 12th so am very pleased I found this forum and am hearing other people's stories.

I have to trust my surgeon and let my body heal, it's done amazing things so far!

Hi Sallymaine and ladies. I am 8 weeks post op for a slight anterior and larger posterior repair. It does change all the time. Things will start to feel different when the stiches begin to dissolve and the pain eases. I've had numerous times when I've thought what was the point, but things are setting down. I'm still getting some discomfort, depending on what I do as the day goes on. Just follow the 'vague' rules, no lifting, and resting. Sending hugs x

This is a reassuring post, I'm only four weeks today, am in very little pain but worry all the time, 'has it worked'. I must be patient and allow my body to heal.

Are you driving again, I think I'll feel much better when I can drive and be independent again? I'm even looking forward to going back to work!!

Hi Sheila glad it helped a little. It's so difficult being positive when you have so much time on your hands. I started driving at 6 weeks, a little at a time. I find I'm still having to be careful getting in and out of the car though. I find I feel it pulling? Felt quite good today, been for a hair cut and colour. HRT are really starting to help. Been back to GP today, one more week off, then back on a phased return to work. I too am feeling the need for some structure in my days. Take it slowly, and hope all you ladies reading this are having a positive and comfortable day. Hugs x

Try not to worry too much at the moment Sally. I was exactly the same at that point. I had my op in January 17 have had my post op check and everything has worked fine. Try rest and not stress too much it's early days for you.

Hi sallymaine1312 - everyone, all of your posts have reassured me. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2000. Recently due to very bad urinary incontinence, back pain etc had vaginal procedure repair of cystocele, enterocele & vaginal vault prolapse (was turned inside out). Had sacrospinous fixation etc.

In past weeks have had gradually lessening vaginal cramping, heaviness etc. At 2 weeks had very bad burning pain on L vaginal openimg. Tried to use a mirror to see what was wrong but as far as I was concerned nothing looked normal to me at all!! At 2 week Dr visit he just said was where he cut me for episiotomy no infection just do sitz baths with Epsom salt.

Now at 4 weeks post-op .. on extended visit out of State re. Death of family member so has complicated recovery a little. However despite using Donut cushion, sitz bath etc that burning pain L side vaginal opening is now also in perineal area is now in R side too. Today asked hubby to look ... He said he saw like a stitch or two looked like sticking up (when he barely touched I yelled .. like a nerve shock,) & other area where he said looks like unhealed or torn cut?? So I am using heating pad, 2 donut pillows, sitz baths, Ibuprofen etc. So anyone else having this??? Cant imagine trying to make love in 2 weeks... 6 weeks post-op!!!

***Also things still seem swollen and ... Does anyone else have weird extra belly swelling since a surgery like this???

    Thanks !!!!

Four weeks is so early, I've still got internal stitches that I can feel at eleven weeks.

I did see my surgeon a few weeks ago and she said it all looked fine, not in my mirror it doesn't!!

Sex at six weeks is also very early, definitley a no for me.
