ANTERIOR LUMBAR FUSION WITH CAGE.

I am going to need Anterior Lumbar Fusion at L5-S1 with a cage, and 4 posterior screws. Has anyone gone thru this. Will also need a quick laminectomy at L3-L4. Have already had bi-lateral laminectomy at L5-S1, worked great for 9 years. But disc compressed now.

I was an X-Ray Tech and used to run the C-arm for surgeries like this. I know what they do and don't like the idea of going thru it. But it is necessary, I found a great surgeon and hospital. Yes, these things are a journey. But you just cannot live with nerve pain. Thanks.

    Hi Bob,

I had a double ALIF at L4/L5 and L5/S1 in April with 2 cages and 8 screws.

The op does work but it's a slow recovery. I'm still in pain 4.5 months later. The lowest healer is your front wound. You'll not even feel your back for the first 2-3 months as long as you do as you are told. I've got a 7-8 inch front wound.

If I was asked to do it again, I would. It's most definitely helped but I have other back issues from 2 previous surgeries.

When and where are you getting it done??
