anterior repair following posterior repair

I have my posterior repair and perimeum repair nearly 5 weeks ago. My rectocele was quite bad and had given me problems for a number of years. However, I'm almost certain that following the birth of my first child nearly 24 years ago I developed a cyctocele prior to the rectocele which came following the birth of my second child. The rectocele has always been far worse than the cyctocele and when I finally got round to seeing about it the surgeon didn't think the cyctocele needed repairing. Now that I've had the posterior repair will be mean the cyctocele will get worse - it's almost like the posterior wall bulge was holding the other back.Hope all that makes sense!

Hi jassy, I had no back ache prior to the operation - my prolems were a low buldge in the vagina and problems have a bowel movement.

Just to clarify gwen are you concerned that you will still have the cyctocele?

Hi Matron, as you've probably read in my previous post's, I'm doing really well post op and hope the consultant will be pleased with the result of the operation be performed when I see him on the 2nd of December. Because I'd had a buldge in my vagina for so long I've forgotten what a "normal" vagina looks like! I've been having a look down there and I'm not sure if what I can see is the cyctocle or just normal vaginal skin.

You may have some swelling in that area as a result of the repair. That often takes a while to reduce but you're absolutely right when you've had a "lump" for a long time you forget what's normal. I hope you've been getting plenty of rest as well.

I'm sure all will be ok just need to remind myseld that I've had an op! I feel so fortuante not to have had the pain etc that other ladies have had. Mr Allman who did the op is a really nice man and I won't have any problems discussing any concerns I might have with him.
