Anterior vs posterior hip replacement

i was scheduled for a thr last Friday which was cancelled. I was looking at new date options and came across references to anterior hip replacement on the internet.  Seems to be much more popular in us than U k.  Seems to be shorter recovery time as muscles not    cut but  wondered if there was any experience in this group of pros and cons.  My cancelled surgery was for posterior but other options were not discussed.  I'm 49 and slim build.

I am 69 and have had both hips replaced here in the States using the anterior method. I was driving after two weeks and had my physiotherapy after the stitches came out also two weeks. I was up and walking without pain within a few hours. It was the stitches or rather staples which pulled a bit but nothing a Tylenol couldn't help me with. You have to keep moving when you have this surgery to avoid a DVT forming although you should be on a blood thinner for 4 weeks. After six weeks I was dancing again and have had no issues in my healing process. It's standard here too for physiotherapy which builds your thigh muscles and helps with all round strengthening of your butt muscles too. I was dancing in 6 weeks and going up and downstairs in days. I think keeping moving helped me heal faster although I did take a rest in the afternoon for an hour to recover from the anesthetic. Mopping floors and vacuuming were off the agenda for six weeks because of the sideways movement which I found uncomfortable doing. I could do everything else. As I had so much pain before my operation I was ready to be fit and well again. Good luck getting your operation done.
