Anti-depressant

Hi I was put on sertraline 50 mg for 3.5 months I wanted off it told my doctor he said take half tablet for 5 days you will be fine but I wasn't I'm on day 7 with out tablet feel crap really fast heart beat tightness in chest brain zaps shaking not much sleep... also I got true to my other doctor and she said I should of taking half for tablets two weeks then after take have tablet every second for two weeks even month should I try to what second doctor told or should I just weather storm it is hard a minute with beating hard no nice atal any suggestions...

    hi liam i too am weaning of 50mg of sertraline ive been on them just over a year but want to come off them im weaning myself slowly which is better im down to 25mg each day but im feeling some withdrawals light head low mood flu like symptoms  ive been feeling this way this past week im hoping this goes away soon as i dont want to lower my dose anymore untill these symptoms go away hopefully soon..i think you should wean off abit slower as the slower you do it the easier it will be ..i hope this helps and hopfully we both feel better soon :-)

    Hi Liam, everyone can differ in how reducing or increasing the dose will effect them.

    In my and many others' experience i would suggest your original doctors plan was far too sudden unless you were suffering major side effects in the first place.

    This is only my opinion and I'm sure others may offer alternative ideas but it might be worth taking half (25mg) for a while to give you some time to adjust slowly

    Ye I started to take half tablet only took it yesterday still have really fast heart beat its crazy pumping scary st time did any of us experience this coming off it... or lowering dose
