Anti depressants

Hi

My partner has recently been prescribed Anti Depressants (Citalopram) and has been signed of work for 2 weeks. He is due to go back to work next week but is worried because he is a bus driver. Should he disclose he is on anti depressants or is he allowed to drive for a public service without disclosing?

Please help!

I think he should check with his employers. They must have a policy about prescribed drugs.

My husband is a conductor, not even a driver, on the railways and he has to check with them if he takes [b:1ff582955c]any[/b:1ff582955c] medication as they can do random drug tests and if he hasn't declared what he's on he'd be in big trouble, possibly sacked.

Good luck to him and I hope the anti-depressants help x

    Hi Karen

It might be worth posting something on the Citalopram forum too, unless you already have.

Best wishes to you both. x

    Hi Karen,

I believe there will be a policy with your partners work place regarding this.

Alot of antidepressants have a sedatory quality, which could affect his driving ability.

I know it may be scarey or embarassing for him (particularly if his work place aren`t aware of his depression), but its better to keep himself right regards work.

    Best of Luck.

    Lindy..x
