Anti-gravity treadmill

Posted , 7 users are following.

Today I experienced an anti-gravity treadmill.  Did not know something this great existed.   For ten glorious minutes I could walk without pain!  It was even better than walking in water.

Has anyone else used one of these?

Day after tomorrow is my second opinion appointment.

HOPE

I have never heard of that type of treadmill Dawn.  Are you getting a second opinion on hip replacement?

Yes, my second THR has been an extreme nightmare, so I am traveling to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN to obtain a second opinion.  I am praying for a solution that will help me get my life back.

This treadmill is amazing!  You still use your muscles while walking but you do not feel the weight of your body.  Amazing!

Dawn, a 2nd opinion for what, to do another replacement?   Or more help on the one that is a nightmare.   I thought of going to another surgeon to discuss my replacement, but I figure WHY, no way do I want to cut open again for any reason but if for an emergency.....just gotta live with what I'm left with....plus this lower back is my agony...guess it's good I'm old and had a big busy life...

Anti gravity treadmill, don't know it, but will look it up....I went to a gym all my adult life...maybe why my joints are so messed up.....ummmm

Just checked  in to another hip group I visit now and then and a really young gal just went thru a THR and said she did gymnastics in her young life...   J  .

      Well Joy,

I do not hope for a revision, but I need to know what is/could be wrong and seek some relief.  As extreme as my pain is, I cannot imagine living like this, in fact I am not living anything close to life as I kne. it prior to this surgery.  Since my surgeon left me high and dry, I was unable to keep exploring my options and an answer.  If my only choice is to live like this, then I want to know one way or another.  Then I can set my mind on it and adapt.

Because I have have excruciating pain, some short periods of less pain and even less  short bursts of no pain, I hold hope that less pain or no pain is possible.

I cannot give up the good fight without more facts.

      Also Joy,

My reason for my hip replacements was not because of arthritis or over use in my younger years.  It was because of Avascular Necrosis brought on only by 30 years of necessary. corticosteroid use for my diseased lungs.  My shoulder joints died also and I cannot go forward with those replacements until this hip is resolved.

I am so sorry to hear that Dawn.  I had my first THR on Septmeber 10th, which makes it 13 weeks this Wednesday.  I feel I am doing pretty well but still very sore.  I have a hard time when I go from sitting to standing.  Once I get going I am ok.  It has taken way longer then I anticipated.  Dr. appt. tomorrow to see if I can go back to work.  I will keep you in my prayers.  That was my biggest fear of getting one done.  I had an uncle who went through a lot with his although he is older then I am.

      mk,

I am 10 wks post THR and am experiencing the same thing as you are. Pain when I first get up, after a few steps it's fine. However, some mornings it barely hurt's so I'm feeling there's hope. That side is also sensitive, like if I rest my arm there while sitting. I have noticed when wearing my jeans, it doesn't quite hurt so much lately, so I'm thinking it's just a matter of time to heal. I also started walking outside again and can now put my socks on without assistance. The stronger I get the less pain I have, except for the new pain from exercising, and if I over do it. I'm sure there will be bad days though for awhile.

I can't wait to go back to work and get my mind on other things.

      Good luck to you,

I bought a used recumbent bike after I quit my years of going to the gym...it comes in handy and I peddle usually every day, a short time but I need to keep these knees moving.....I've used  many treadmills over the years, but too much stress on the joints now.   J

    Good Luck Dawn,

You seem to be able to find the latest in innovations. I am now ten wks post THR and am getting back to walking outside again. It feels good, but is bringing on new pains from being out of shape. Isn't Vanderbilt one of the places where they do the Super Path THR? That's where I'll go if I ever had to have another one. I hope they can give you some answers. Keep us informed please.

Yes Vanderbilt has one of the handful of practicing Super Path method.  However, the doctor who does it had terrible reviews, so I changed my mind about him.

Realizing that one needs to take reviews with a grain of salt, it was one specific common denominator in the reviews I read that caught my attention.  Evidently, when his patients have ended up with problems due to his performance, he begins to treat them poorly.  THAT is not a good quality nor of good character.  To me it speaks volumes as to his inflated ego which causes him to blame the patient when he is angry over his own performance.  And impatience and lack of proper follow through and willingness to try to correct his mistakes.

Do not want that for myself.

Perhaps if I describe it you might recognize it by another name. The treadmill Has a big air bubble that surrounds surrounds you and you wear a simple garment that connects to the bubble rendering it air tight using zippers.  Then the machine calibrates your weight, lifts you up and then you walk normally but weightless.  Like in water without the wet.

I am going back a lot!
