Antibiotics and probiotics

I have an infected finger that's really stubborn in clearing. Just had it lanced a second time and he's extending my antibiotics. I'm concerned about the yeast issue in light of LS. How many probiotics should I take a day?

I'm not sure what probiotics you're taking but one a day should be enough, I know you can buy probiotics that contain different amounts of flora, so maybe try and find one that contains a lot. You could also try some natural yoghurt, the ones without any sugar, that will also boost your gut flora.

A couple of spoons of kefir contains more live probiotic bacteria than yogurt. I'm also eating a small serving of naturally fermented sauerkraut daily. This has completely transformed my digestion – it's digestion that antoibiotics mess up. No harm in taking probiotic tablets while on antibiotics, but this element of my diet is for keeps. An ounce of prevention...

I'm humiliated to ask this question. I have a very stubborn finger infection. Finally getting ahead of it I think. I hurt a thumb today when cleaning and am so concerned I don't get infection again. I'm thinking that in spreading steroid and moisturizers I'm putting my fingers at spots that are loaded with bacteria. am I just phobic cause of this horrible infection the had or is it a valid concern?Just injured my finger under the thumb nail today and really don't want a reoccurrence. It was not fun. At. All. . Sigh

You can buy finger covers from the pharmacy for applying the steroid. Then you won't be worrying about that.
