Best to put all your questions to you doctors without fail and without delay. Some men's infections take a long course of the appropriate antibiotics and especially is the infection gets into difficult to treat areas.....

It has been learnt  by urological research doctors that certain bacteria can be 'walled off' by the body making it very difficult for the antibiotic to get at it ! This may well be the cause of the ' hit and miss'  treatment of UTI's

and it is thought that the short course antibiotics may be making the bacteria resistant to those antibiotics due to a few surviving and modifying themselves to be resistant to the next short course given.

Mimms state that it is usual to treat infection of the prostate and walled off bacteria with a months course of the appropriate antibiotic. Finding what the infection is sometimes proves difficult and sometimes nigh on impossible but some would say it may be a financial decision to carry on with the 'hit and miss' regimen especially if the patient is still  vertical.   I have learnt that it sometimes pays to write a letter stating one concerns  then at least the other 'party' knows you do mean business in that you want resolution to your suffering.
