The list of side effects is so long I'm not sure I can cope with anything on top of shat I have already.

I was prescribed Amitriptyline 25mg for headaches at first and it seemed to work. My fibromyalgia symptoms got worse so my doctor increased the dose to 50mg. This made my mouth really swollen and my saliva thickened so much it was unbearable.
I have since come off it and I can only take paracetamol for my discomfort.
It seems that the lower dose suited me but as soon as I increased it, I reacted badly. Thickened saliva is a common side effect apparently and I'd rather not go through that again as it felt really weird and increased my anxiety.
Don't forget though, everyone is different and may not experience the same effects. ..

I had Amitriptyline at the start of my pains 20yrs ago. I too put weight on and felt low mood swings. It didn't help my pains.
My rheumatologist that diagnosed my Fibromyalgia suggested that I should take them. With past experiences I refused on this occassion.
What may work for one may not necessary benefit another. You can give it a try but do discuss with your GP if you have any concerns.

I think everyone with fibro gets these meds to try as they are the cheapest.
For me it didn't work I was on 75mg although I think I only took 2 nights of the 75mg before that it was the 50mg I put weight and it wasnt from eatin my Tounge was so painfull eaten was sore, and dry tounge was an understatement i would wake up through the night with it being hard. I have been for a few weeks now weaning myself off them and now take half a 25mg at night but come Saturday I will take half that dose again as it did nothing for the pain although on the 25 I did definitely 😴 better.
But remember what doesn't work for 1 may work for another

Weight gain could be from being in pain and not being as active as you were, if this is the case choose healthier options as your not burning up the calories you would if not in pain.

But when you're stuck not being able to do much exercise its heartbreaking seeing the scales go up when you're eating healthy x
