Anxiety.....

My anxiety is getting worse. Very tough to live like this. I’m trying to think of all positive thoughts to keep my spirits up. Any advice would be very helpful. I’ve spoken with counselors and did a lot of homework on the Internet. Thank you for any help I can get.

I found the book Hope and help for your nerves by Claire Weekes helped me out a lot. I went from being afraid to use the washroom in fear of something bad would happen to being able to function and live a pretty normal life after reading and doing the things in this book.

So I dont have anything earth shattering to say. Im dealing with severe anxiety due to health. All I would say is getting sunshine (if you can), exercise (whatever you can do) and keeping as busy as possible have all been a help to me in the past. You could try during a really anxious moment, listening to a really immersive audiobook. Your mind is more engaged and cant wander as much as with music or something..

I think this is great advice and has been helpful for me too. While it doesn't help me snap out of it right away, setting up a routine for myself that involves healthy mental/physical activities also helps divert some of the mental energy (and thus fuel) I give to my anxiety.

Mindfulness apps like headspace or calm.  Exercise, long walks always make me feel better and are a great excuse to listen to podcasts. No caffeine, sugar or any other common triggers like alcohol or cigs or even high salt foods. Eat healthy. Yoga is excellent and u can do it at home with YouTube. Most important is sleep. You have to sleep well or everything is worse.
