Anxiety

Hello this is my first time on this site. I believe I suffer from anxiety since I was a child. I am very terrified when I'm a passenger in someone's car. Not all the time but often. If there is another direction of cars coming my way from another lane. In my mind I don't think the car will stop. My heart starts to race uncontrollable. Or if the driver is behind another car. I always believe its going to crash right into it.I use my imaginary breaks like I can make the car stop. I'm 39yrs old. This is why I never learn how to drive. Has anyone else experienced this also

I get this, but with me it's not a feat of crashing, it's basically because I'm not in control. I'm fine driving my own car, but as soon as I'm in someone else's, I subconsciously worry that  going to have a panic attack and won't be able to get out. I've had anxiety and panic disorder for about 6 months, I have good weeks and bad weeks. Right now I'm on a not so good week after having a antic attack in the dentist this morning, was terrifying and embarrassing. But again it was because I wasn't in control of what was happening to my body after I had the anesthetic. It's a learning curve that's for sure.

My worst anxiety comes from car rides but I was able to drive myself but not be a passanger, unless in the back seat eyes closed. I hate the feeling of my body in motion and cannot get on a plane...without drinks and after I stop the drink. Forget it, I need to take a bus or train.

so up until last year I could drive and now I'm getting such panic from driving on certain streets. I can't breathe and my leg shakes so bad I can't do the gas or break pedal so I guess I can only do certain street and I've investigated which ones .

sorry you have this it's awful ...

My mum is similar to you when I am driving. Its just nerves. What about considering your fears and trying to do a driving lesson then maybe a test.

I tried a few yrs ago. I drove two blocks with a friend. It wasn't bad only because there weren't any cars on the road
