Hiya I suffer with anxiety,I have recently been prescribed sertraline 50mg, after taking the first tablet before I went to sleep,it made me really poorly,so I went back to the doctors and the doctor told me to take half of the tablet,I've been taking the tablets for about a week now, the side effects are starting to go,but today I went back to the doctors and I was told to take the whole tablet,I'm going on holiday on Tuesday,so in just 4 days and I don't know if I should wait till I get back because I'm scared about feeling poorly and being away...I'm already really anxious about going away and I'm not sure if I can go away...

Hi, if the 50 mg made you feel poorly, maybe wait till you get back just to be sure!! Don't want to be ruining a holiday wondering if you going to be poorly!! Why do you not think you can go !?

After taking 25mg it made me poorly too,but it's getting better!and it's the anxiety,I don't really like flying! Last year me and my boyfriend went to turkey and I was fine but this year I just can't imagine going on the plane, and just thinking about it makes me more anxious!

I think over thinking is probably something that most of us finds causes us issues. It dimirs me in a big way. I get analyses paralyses lol. Just try hard to be in the moment rather than with your thoughts of fear and what ifs!!! Very hard I know but if you can it would help. I would wait till after hol to go to your 50mg just incase it makes you more anxious.!!!

I learnt something that helps some people. Have an object, be it a pebble or something that can fit in you pocket . Get this object, and whilst holding it, picture or think of something that made you really happy and was a nice time for you, where you were happy, or excited, or calm, and as you think hard about that moment , run the item in your hand over and over, whilst thinking about that happy moment. Do this over and over, remembering that time you are thinking about. Then, whenever you get panicky or anxious etc, hold that object in your hand in your pocket, and rub it, and hopefully the feelings and thoughts you had will come back to you to calm you. Worked for me !!

    Hi there

I've been on sert for 8 mths now. In my opinion I would cease taking the tablets until you return from the hol & start again when you're back as the first month is a rocky road but I would also ask your doctor for propranolol (beta blockers) which will keep your physical anxiety symptoms at bay.

I had to take the propranolol at the start of my sert journey because the sert sent my anxiety thru the roof. I'm not saying that will definitely happen to you but just in case (as it seems it has to many on here) I would delay beginning sert till u get home. Hope this helps.
