Anxiety

New to all this.. May of this year I started experiencing shortness of breath. Thought it was asthma, treated as such for 8 weeks. Tests done (normal), ER twice until realizing its anxiety. Doctor started me on 25mg for 4 weeks then 50mg now for 10 days. My question is, will I ever be normal again and off this medicine? My breathing is getting better, still feel the anxiety in my chest.. will this antidepressant turn off the fight or flight response and once it does, life go back to normal? How so these pills work? I dont want to be on these pills for the rest of my life..

I know this is off the subject here but I am reducing from celexa as it didn't work for me so well, and I'm suppose to go back on zoloft (I was on that years ago). During this reduction I was told by a family member to try magnesium glycinate tablets for anxiety and all that while I'm coming off of them, I've taken one so far. Hoping that it helps!

    HI kelly,

I'm new ti taking this also, and its almost slow steps forward. I think from what i have read here that sertraline takes a while to kick in so you have to be patient. Hard i know because it can make your anxiety worse at first and it has for me.

Last nite awful, but you get glimpses of normality even if its jsut for a short while. SO yes they will work, its just takes time! So keep strong..

you will be normal again and off the medication .. . 😃 xox

It is slowly going away.. still slightly there but I'm optimistic in a couple more weeks it will be completely gone!! Not feeling so panicky anymore.. feel like myself again!! Didn't think that would happen..

thats so amazing to hear kelly!

i too suffer with the shortness of breath and tight chest at times....it used to be worse but now its more at bed time when i try to close my eyes and fall asleep.. during the day its not there so i know the meds are starting to work. its such a scary feeling and so hard to deal with especially when im trying to fall asleep!

hopefully in a couple of more weeks, itll be completely gone for us!
